My husband had two MRI’s on his back and neck without contrast:Lower Back MRI Results:IMPRESSIONLoss of signal L4-L5 disc space with very minimal disc bulge with no evidenceof compression of neural structures.
REPORTMRI of the Lumbar Vertebral Column:
The patient was identified and the procedure was explained to the patient priorto procedure by HG, RT.
Indication: Chronic low back pain with radiation down the left leg. Todaypatient states radiation in both legs. Patient has history of multiple falls,the most recent 3 to 4 days ago. No surgery or cortisone injection.
Comparison: Plain images of 11/09/2011
Technique: T1,T2 and STIR sagittal and T1 and T2 axial images were obtained.Sequences repeated secondary to motion.
Findings: No soft tissue abnormality. Decreased signal L4-L5 disc space. Noabnormal bone marrow signal. To the conus at L2-L3.
T12-L1: No abnormality is detected.
L1-L2: No abnormality is detected.
L2-L3: No abnormality detected.
L3-L4: Mild degenerative changes articulating facet joints. No otherabnormality detected.
L4-L5: Mild degenerative changes articulating facet joints. Very minimalposterior disc bulge with no evidence of displacement of thecal sac,compression of neural structures, spinal stenosis, LRS or foraminal stenosis.
L5-S1: Mild posterior disc bulge with slight flattening of the thecal sac. Noother abnormality is detected.
Neck MRI Results:IMPRESSIONRelatively minimal findings with no evidence of spinal stenosis and rather mildnarrowing of neural foramina as above. No definite nerve root compression.
REPORTMRI of the cervical vertebral column without contrast:The patient was identified and the procedure was explained to the patient prior to the procedure by HG, RT.
Indication: Neck pain headaches. No cortisone injection, no injury or surgery.
Comparison: Plain images of 01/18/2012
Technique: Multiplanar multisequential MR imaging was performed through thecervical vertebral column. Patient motion required repeat sequences..Findings: No soft tissue abnormality detected. No abnormal cord signalidentified. Corticomedullary junction unremarkable. No abnormal bone marrowsignal. Narrowing C4-C5 and C5-C6 disc spaces. Anterior osteophyte formationC5-C6. No abnormal disc signal.
C2-C3: No abnormality detected.
C3-C4: No definite abnormality detected.
C4-C5: Narrowing of disc space with posterior disc bulge. Minimal posteriorosteophyte formation greater on the left side. Slight deformity of the thecalsac but definite evidence of spinal stenosis is not visualized with CSF seenaround the sac. Mild narrowing of the neuroforamina secondary to degenerativechanges in the uncovertebral joint spaces.
C5-C6: Moderate anterior osteophyte formation and disc bulge. Minimal posteriordisc bulge, greater on the right. No displacement or distortion of the thecalsac. Probable mild narrowing of the neural foramina without definite nerve rootcompression.
C6-C7: No abnormality detected.
C7-T1: Minimal narrowing of right neural foramen secondary to degenerativechanges and uncovertebral joint space. Otherwise normal.
Any interpretation of these would be greatly appreciated.
